HONEY
Straight from our hives to your table.
Our honey is raw (never heated), pure and delicious. It comes primarily from the nectar of Tupelo Gum and Hollies; with lesser amounts of blueberry, blackberry, elderberry, maple, and numerous other spring wildflowers. This is some of the best honey North Carolina has to offer.
We have a limited amount of honey from the 2014 eastern North Carolina nectar flow available in 1-pound and 2-pound Queenline jars; and 60-pound, food-safe pails. Visit our online store for more information and to place an order.
Bees
We are now taking 2015 orders for nucs and mid-atlantic acclimated queens. To place an order please contact us through our Contact Page, call (910) 540-4611 or email bees@shakencreekfarms.com
nucs
Nucs, or nucleus colonies, are the most reliable way to replace winter losses or to get started in beekeeping.
Our nucs are of Italian stock with 2015 Varroa Sensitive Hygiene (VHS) queens and an established laying pattern. They are started in south Florida in January. If ordered for March or early April delivery and properly managed, your nuc will establish a strong colony in time for the spring and summer nectar flow in North Carolina and regions northward.
Nuc Pricing
A 10% non-refundable deposit for Nucs is required at placement of the order. Cancellations or delivery changes must be made at least four weeks in advance.
March thru April 15..............$145
April 16 thru may 31..............$135
june thru September............$125
*Nucs must be picked up at our farm unless otherwise arranged. Reusable corrugated cardboard nuc boxes are available for an additional $9 each. See below for shipping information.
mid-atlantic acclimated queens
We are excited to offer queens for sale and are now accepting orders. Available queens are daughters of queens from our own apiaries that have successfully overwintered for successive generations.
They have survived with minimal treatments for hive pests, are strong pollinators and come from Queen Mothers (QMs) that are above average honey producers. We select Queen Mothers from our best hives, stock our drone yards with the same genetic lines and sell only proven egg layers.
Queen Pricing
Book early to get queens hardy for mid-Atlantic winters and with proven survivability traits.

shipping
We guarantee that our queens are alive and healthy when shipped, with sufficient attendants and food to get them to you in good condition.
We have found that the U.S. Postal Service is best equipped to handle the shipment of live bees. They will be shipped to your nearest post office, for pick-up. We suggest that you contact your Postmaster to advise him/her of the anticipated date of arrival. Also ask that the package be held at the post office and that you be contacted for pick-up. Doing so avoids the perils of a day in the postal delivery truck.
If there is any problem with the queen(s) on receipt we should be contacted immediately. We are not responsible for losses after the queens are placed in your hives.
